pipeband
In 1992, “ESBARDU” assumes the formation of a Bagpipe Band sensing the boom that this type of modern formation would acquire in the Principality of Asturias. A band that over the years has been able to gain a high degree of acceptance, based on a growing level of quality driven by its continuous spirit of improvement.
In this space of time, the number of performances of the band has been impressive, participating in all kinds of formal acts as well as weddings, communions, funerals, tributes, cultural and social events and popular celebrations of various kinds, in addition to attending many national and international festivals on the European continent.
In its musical REPERTOIRE, we can find popular and traditional songs from the Asturian songbook with original arrangements by the band itself, which gives it a strong musical identity that makes it easily recognizable.
Likewise, and due to its cultural affinity related to the Atlantic Arc, some samples of Breton, Irish and Scottish folklore also appear in the repertoire.
Depending on the performance, the band can perform with 2 types of bagpipes:
1.- The traditional ones in boxwood, with DO tuning and a single roncón, which are the work of the Asturian craftsman Alberto Fernández (Gijón).
2.- Evolved, in Bb with roncón and ronquín in granadillo wood and silver ornaments, the work of the craftsman Miguel Alonso (Colunga).
Regarding percussion, there are several possibilities depending on the type of performance to be performed:
1.- The traditional one of drums and bass drum by string tensioners of the craftsman Fernando Carlones (Oviedo)
2.- The advanced type professional from the prestigious PREMIER house with medium voltage and bass drum boxes.
3.- The high-end professional from the PREMIER house with high-tension snare drums, tenor drums and bass drum
The band can adapt to all kinds of acts depending on the characteristics of the performance itself, from the typical pair of bagpipes and drums to the entire band, passing through the traditional quintet, octet, etc.
