Llywelyn was the second son of Gruffudd, the eldest, but illegitimate, son of Llywelyn the Great. With two of his brothers, he was invested with power in Gwynedd: following the death of his uncle Dafydd: in 1246. By 1255, he had ousted his brothers, incl
